function click { if 1 && ;return false} if 1 && ;return false} } if 1 } document onmousedown click; Wrecks HATOUR HATOUR before Safaga / Egypt Nationality Type Year of construction Tonnage Sunk Position GPS data min depth max depth Egyptian Liveaboaard boat GRT November 2001 Before the coast of Safaga / 9 m 15 m The following pictures were kindly supplied by Martin Duchow Thanks Martin Before the coast of Safaga in the last November week 2001 a liveaboard boat the HATOUR sank According to the statements of the guides the ship was supposed to fetch guests from another boat by Abu Kafan and bring them back to Hurghada The boat struck the reef and began leaking The boat was towed to Shab Sheer east and after the passengers and crew went off board it was sunk The boat is between 9 and 15 meters directly on the reef edge At present there still salvageable items being retrieved by Egyptians The wreck lies protected against the current and can be easily dived Caution is however required since by the disassembly work there are plenty of nails lying around and sharp edges present Unfortunately at the moment diesel and oil is running out of engine room which can also be seen on the surface Perhaps the engine will be salvaged so that the problem will be somewhat defused Otherwise is the wreck easy to dive since it lies on the sea bed Apart from the engine there is also kitchen equipment and other things which usually can be found on a liveaboard vessel If you want to know the position of the individual wrecks just click here
