function click { if 1 && ;return false} if 1 && ;return false} } if 1 } document onmousedown click; Dive spot UMM GAMAR Map Site Umm Gamar is a narrow elongated reef in a north south direction 90 minutes north from Hurghada In the north and the south are narrow plateaus at 20m On the eastern side a vertical wall drops off into the quiet depths Usually dives take place on the south plateau and at the east wall Umm Gamar means "mother of the moon" probably an allusion of the moon formed island over the reef Diving conditions Also here it can be a turbulent journey to get there but it offers good protection once there Currents are normally no problem If one is present you will find her at the southeast corner Dive plan Where the eastern edge merges with the plateau are three coral towers The first is hollow and round and filled with glass fish exactly the same as the second which is larger The third has a large sandy cave at 27m All three are richly decorated with magenta red soft corals and a cloud of glass fish What more could you want Underwater life On the plateau one will certainly find napoleons morays flute fish bat fish and schools of banner fish White tipped reef sharks pass across occasionally In February/March sometimes mantas may be seen and in September the giant triggers guard their nests At the coral towers one can observe the natural enemies of the glass fish stone fish dragonsheads and lionfish
