function click { if 1 && ;return false} if 1 && ;return false} } if 1 } document onmousedown click; Dive spot RAS UMM HESIWA Map Site At the same distance also north of Ras Abu Soma or 45 minutes with the boat is an easily recognizable promontory On the eastern side is a wide sloping plateau between 15 and 30m In the north a deep long reef tongue reaches into the sea beginning at 25m which then drops off to 40m Diving conditions Due to the angle of the promontory there is little protection here from the waves so that one can only dive here in calm weather The currents come mostly from the northwest the eastern plateau is then current free Only if you were to turn around the corner then the current would feel like a slap in the face The current shoots almost over the plateau which makes it most of the time impossible to dive here Dive plan This diving spot is known for its extremely large and immaculate table corals therefore you should begin the dive along the plateau at 20m The steep drop off is quite deep but uninteresting it´s better to omit it You can use your air better for a small excursion around the corner watch out however ithat you don´t get swept away On the way back keep to the shallow reef Since the south storm in 1996 the reef has suffered somewhat and large coral blocks now lie scattered on the ground Underwater life When you swim over the plateau look under the table corals Often sleeping white tipped reef sharks look here for protection The large morays find many cleaning stations here Over the plateau a cloud of red toothed triggers and close to the corner a school of banner fish and many box fish can be found It´s openness to sea and regular currents means that sharks are more often sighted at Ras Umm Hesiwa Some groups of long fin sharks come from here
