function click { if 1 && ;return false} if 1 && ;return false} } if 1 } document onmousedown click; Dive spot RAS ABU SOMA Map Site Ras Abu Soma is the promontory which borders the northern end of the bay from Safaga Here there are two diving spots Abu Soma Gardens on the inside and the "Ras" itself It takes about 45 minutes with a boat to get to both of them The "Ras" has a steep wall which unites in the south with a 25 meters deep plateau This place is nearly a copy of Small Giftun in Hurghada except that the sea fan coral are replaced by large table corals Diving conditions Here you are well protected from the weather abut if you intend to do a drift dive then you will notice a dramatic increase in the state of the sea if you go around the corner to the drop off point the current is coming from the north and can be very strong on the outer wall The moorings are free from currents Dive plan The best thing to do here is a drift dive Begin it approx 400m after the "Ras" but a good way before the navigation mark Here you will find an excellent visibility and a steep wall which drops off into the deep blue The further you dive to the south the more it forms a slope which then merges into a plateau Shortly afterwards you can recognise a sort of bay and on the southernmost side you may find a beautiful cave at 35m It is surrounded by soft corals and thousands of glass fish linger here watched by a large grouper Dive from here to the shallow reef and follow it to 4 5m where it is most beautiful and return up to the boats moorings Underwater life This diving is like a game of luck Sometimes one finds here innumerable large fish and in other times it is almost empty and without any life If you´re lucky then you´ll see barracudas mackerels snappers tuna and bat fish and schools of doctor fish The large fish twhich have been sighted here consist of grey reef sharks white tipped reef sharks violin rays leopard sharks sting rays eagle rays hammerheads and in March/April Mantas If you´re out of luck then you´ll only see some box fish
