function click { if 1 && ;return false} if 1 && ;return false} } if 1 } document onmousedown click; Dive spot PANORAMA REEF Map Site Panorama is also known under "Abu Alama" which means "father of the mast" This is an allusion of the concrete column which once marked the north end and which has now been replaced by an ultramodern automatic beacon It lies 60 90 minute outside from Safaga It is an ellipsoidal reef with a northwest southeast axle At the north end is an exciting plateau with a steep drop off Along the east and west side runs a narrow sloping slope in the same depth Diving conditions The journey there can become very rough particularly since the boat takes the sea from the side and therefore will strongly roll However the reef permits good protection for several boats once there Currents come 95% of the time from a northerly direction They can become very strong on the plateau and almost flying at both sides of the reef The southern plateau is normally calm Dive plan A drift dive at the northern plateau is the best option However you need either calm weather or a life boat to accomplish this After you´ve explored the plateau you can dive along any of the steep walls to your boat on the calmer south side When there is no current present it will be a long way out of it The western wall is the better The south end of the reef can also be dived from the moorings and on the southeast corner you will find a lot of sea fan corals Underwater life At the north plateau if it is large and lives in the sea then you´ll find it here Schools of doctor fish nose doctor fish and barracudas "Dickkopf" mackerels white tipped reef sharks grey reef sharks eagle rays Dolphins silver tipped sharks and even white tipped high sea sharks Everywhere turtles are to be found Southern plateau here there is a family of three Napoleons They live here together with morays flatheads and a turtle with a deformed shell Large colonies with 50 60 Anemonen lines the reef
