function click { if 1 && ;return false} if 1 && ;return false} } if 1 } document onmousedown click; Dive spot MIDDLE REEF Map Site Middle Reef is a very large round reef with dozens of small flat Ergs on south east corner and lies 90 minutes to 2 hours away from Safaga On the north and west side coral gardens can be found that drop down to 30m In the south there is a lonesome Erg at 20m deep On the east side a broad plateau stretches out almost 500m wide to Hal Hal It is covered with ine of the most picturesque coral gardens in the Red Sea It also has a steep drop off but this is however far off in the north east away from the main reef Diving conditions On the way there you will have to cross the waves so that the boat will be strongly shaken Once there the moorings have the best shelter The current comes almost always from the north and fluctuates from gentle to very strong Dive plan Here you can do a drift dive from the north west or east steep face although this is only possible when the sea is calm Most divers start the dive at the moorings and brain coral garden on the eastern plateau It is a labyrinth made up of sandy areas and coral ridges Be careful here There have been divers who have surfaced middle in the open sea over the plateau and then they´ve be pulled away unnoticed by the current Be sure you take a buoy with you or better still a compass Underwater life Middle Reef is principally dived because of the coral and not because of the fishlife Nevertheless there are a great number of parrot and trigger fish On the steep face you may find tuna mackerels schools of doctor fish and occasionally grey reef sharks white tipped sharks and in late summer hammer heads Near to the moorings turtles morays a school of 300 400 young barracudas and a school of black snappers
