function click { if 1 && ;return false} if 1 && ;return false} } if 1 } document onmousedown click; Dive spot HAMDA Map Site Hamda is at the northeast side of Giftun Kebir underneath a set of rocks and opposite a white pebble beach It is known under many names Hamda Umm cathedral Hamata or Stone Beach to name but a few Underwater is a small plateau that drops from 15 to 35m The exterior side of the plateau drops quickly to a great depth At both ends the plateau goes over into a steep wall which drops to 50m Diving conditions If the wind comes from the northwest it´s well protected whereas should it come from the north or northeast it´s exposed to the sea conditions Currents are here negligible Dive plan It can be worthwhile to catch a glimpse of the steep slope itself even if only to remind oneself of how much more life and colour there is within the shallower area It consists of naked rock and looks somehow like on the moon Keep a look out for a large green wwinding crater coral If you swim northwards from here over the plateau you can recognize two larger sand areas at 15 and 18m The steep wall begins not far from it On the way back remain in the shallow area ; this is probably the best part of the dive Underwater life In the open water over the plateau large schools of blue fusiliers red toothed trigger fish and individual tuna as well as snapper and nose doctor fish can be found On the plateau morays dragonsheads barracudas and sometimes sharks and turtles can be seen Many fish wait here with open mouths for a cleaner lip fish at one the innumerable cleaning stations Even whale sharks have been sighted here several times
