function click { if 1 && ;return false} if 1 && ;return false} } if 1 } document onmousedown click; Dive spot HAL HAL Map Site Hal Hal is a description used by fishermen meaning troubled sea and it applies here as the sea is almost always choppy Two Ergs stand on the edge of a plateau up to 3m under the surface and offer no protection whatsoever They are about 400m south east from the Middle Reef On the inside is the plateau 16m deep whereas on the outerside it drops to a wide slope at 22 24m The slope has a steep drop at approx 80m further eastern and whose wall is vertical if not overhanging and begins at 30m Hal Hal is also known as Shaab Kweiss but then again so is every reef when the capitain has forgotten its name Diving conditions Extremely good conditions are required in order to reach Hal Hal and then in nine out of ten cases is the current too strong to dive Dive plan If you are lucky enough to dive here then you will probably see one of the most colourful and most alive reefs which you ever have dived The fish have the appearance of never having to sleep here they move continuously in the battle between eating and being eaten The diving spot is so small you can round them 2 3 times in ever decreasing circles Don´t make a plan here the current will determine the dive for you Dive to the steep wall and look at the large fish but only if you have a good air consumption and have a good sense of orientation Underwater life The reef is captivating through its soft corals and sea fan corals and also a few sporadic table corals As far as the fish life is concerned then you will find the usual reef fish here only in moderation Leopard groupers turtles sea barbels writing file fish long nosed doctor fish and white tipped reef sharks to name just a few At the upper edge of the Ergs red mouthed groupers hunte harem coloured groupers and not glass fish as they usually do A school of banner fish look for the close protection of the reef At the steep drop off you can see schools of snappers schools of doctor fish and small tunas several large tuna and depending upon the time of year an enormous school of mackerel which stretches as far as the eye can see
