function click { if 1 && ;return false} if 1 && ;return false} } if 1 } document onmousedown click; Dive spot BEN EL GEBEL Map Site A small strait between Giftun Soraya and Giftun Kebir A reef in a curved formation along the north side of Giftun Soraya this is Ben el Gebel It is also known under the names Shaab Torfa Shaab Dorfa and Torfa el Shait At the end of this half curve ars 5 Ergs This is the dive spot and is approx 90 minutes away from Hurghada Diving conditions Even by rough seas or howling winds it is always calm in the lagoon You can begin your dive through the channel The whole area is full of current which most of the time flows through the strait Dive plan Swim through the channel at 8m If you don´t want to cover a great distance then remain by the 3 Ergs which are nearby On the north side there are several very pretty sea fan corals If you´re feeling a bit sporty then swim to the Erg which is furthest away Little diving is done here so it is full of fish and has several impressive overhangs which are surrounded by glass fish Be careful not to swim too far out into the strait Many divers have lost there way and have inadvertantly surfaced at the neighbouring "Gota Ben el Gebel" or "Banana Reef" The way back can be very long Underwater life Picasso trigger fish puffer fish yellow bell nosed doctor fish Napoleons and snappers inhabit this reef Gold stained mackerel hunt the glass fish under the overhang Further away on the north side are barracudas and occassionally white tipped reef sharks and eagle rays Near the reef are large groups of anemone fish living in their anemones
