function click { if 1 && ;return false} if 1 && ;return false} } if 1 } document onmousedown click; Dive spot ABU HASCHISH Map Site Abu Haschish is the island in the middle of a broad bay approx 90 minutes south of Hurghada The island was used as a stopping point for smugglers in order to bring hashish into the country South of the island is a 1km long "reef tongue" The dive spot is on the most southerly point A plateau between 15 and 22m leads outwards and beyond that is a steep but barren wall with an unusually good visibility Within the "reef tongue" many elongated ergs may be found Dive conditions A troubled sea often prohibits a trip from Hurghada even when the dive spot itself is well protected Currents come usually from the north and are at their strongest along the steep drop Dive plan You should leave the lagoon through the channel overgrown with table coral swim over the plateau to the steep drop and follow it northwards In the 30m area there are a couple of very nice caves You should return along the reef and end the dive in the lagoon around the ergs Underwater life Along the steep face high sea fish such as mackerel barracudas white tip shark and every so often a hammerhead and brown stingrays On the plateau turtles blue spotted rays and spanish dancers linger along with muray eels and different types of groupers Whereas cuttlefish and schools of baby barracuda can be seen in the lagoon
